How to Choose a Stretch Wrap Machine

Below you will find some basic questions to explore when deciding what stretch wrapper is right for you.

  1. How many pallet loads are you wrapping per day?
  2. How heavy is the product you are wrapping?
  3. How tall is the product you are wrapping?
  4. Do you want to optimize your film usage? - Power pre-stretch carriages reduce film needed per pallet and reduces your packaging costs.
  5. Do you require a scale to display the weight of your pallet?
  6. Will you be loading with fork trucks or with pallet jacks that require a ramp to load?
  7. Are you limited on space and need to load with manual equipment? -Our 1200UL Ultra Low  doesn't require long ramps to be loaded so it save you a lot of space!

SWM-SA-1100AC: List $10500

The 1100AC truly packs a punch! It has over 57 different parameters that can be preset on the PLC control making it highly customizable to fit nearly any application. It also comes standard with auto film cutting at the end of the wrap cycle which typically costs hundereds of dollars with other brands and saves more time. This machine is built for heavy use, rated for up to 300 cycles per day. It also has a long list of options.

SWM-SA-1200UL: List $12500

The 1200UL "ultra low" is a one of a kind! It is the only machine in the world that has a standard frame height of 3/4". Typically frames are about 3''. So what does it mean to have the ultra low frame? If you plan to use pallet jacks to load and unload the turntable it can mean saving 5 -8 feet of floor space because you don't need a long loading ramp. Warehouse floor space is precious and the 1200UL sometimes is the only solution that will work. The other benefit to the ultra low frame is that it isn't subjected to the constant impacts of forklifts when loading and unloading which saves you from costly frame damage. The 8'' skirt ramp is also far easier to roll pallets on and off so your workers don't have to stuggle. The 1200UL runs on the same software platform as the 1100AC and has many of the same options too. This machine is truly a game changer!

Other types of machines to consider:

Rotating Arm Stretch Wrappers - Ideal for extremely heavy or light and unsteady loads as the pallet is stationary. They also tend to wrap faster than turntable styles

Mobile Robot Wrappers - Niche machine with their best attribute being that it can wrap very long or heavy pallets and can be stowed away when not in use.
